Surprise Kris!!

Kris turned 30 last Sunday! Somehow, Aaron (one of Kris's guys) and I were able to pull of a surprise party! Aaron took Kris golfing for his birthday. There were supposed to leave at 11 so I would have plenty of time preparing, but they didn't leave until after 1:30! People were to start showing up to our house at 5! Because I know Kris monitors our bank accounts like a hawk, I couldn't buy anything in advance. So as soon as they left, I ran in a panic to purchase the decorations and the food!! Of course I cleaned as much of the house as I could throughout the week! I was able to get everything and had 2 hours to prepare! The theme was 80's, because Kris was born in 1980! Long story short, me and one other girl were the only ones dressed 80's, but it was fun. I kept having to call Aaron and ask him to stall in order for everyone to arrive at our house before them! Kris thought we were all going into Austin for his birthday to eat at a restaurant on the lake. Once they pulled up to our house and all of the cars were there, Kris began to catch on! When he walked in, everyone yelled surprise! It was a lot of fun!! And, Kris actually had no idea!!! It was a good party, and I am looking forward to many more!!!

Universal Studios!

We went to Universal Studios on Sunday. We rode a lot of rides including Jaws, E.T., the Mummy Returns, and several roller coasters. We were able to go to the Beetlejuice and Monsters Rock and Roll show which was really good! That night we returned for Halloween Horror Nights. I have never seen SO many people! We went to Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure show, which was a flash back of the events in 2010. And we stood in line for an hour and a half for a haunted house! It was good, but over with in 3 minutes! We also ate at Hard Rock Cafe! It was a lot of fun and I can't wait to go back again!

Pumpkins in the trees! They were lit up at night.

Luckily, Kris remembered where most things were located from when he went 10 years ago! I loved seeing everything! We went to several shows including The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, A Stunt Show, and my favorite It's Tough to be a Bug! It was a blast!! I think my favorite ride was the Aerosmith Roller Coaster! Everyone needs to go to Disney World!!

Here Comes Fall!!

We are excited about the fall season. Kris is slowing down, to an extent. Now that his off season is quickly approaching, majority of his weekends are booked for the month of October! We are looking forward to spending a few more hours together. Although, with my new position, I have been putting in long days at work. Hopefully that will balance out as we enter October.

In mid October, Kris and I are going to Orlando! We will actually be leaving on our 5 year anniversary! We will have been dating for 10 years! I can't believe how fast time has gone by! After that, Kris gets to go to Newport Beach for work! I know he will have a blast!

Things here have been good. We finally received more rain with this last hurricane! I think it rained for 2 days straight, but no flooding this time!!! Kris was already prepared for the worst! Luckily, we didn't get 10-12 inches of rain like they said we might! Our dogs are doing great and so is Kujo. Life has just been pretty busy in the Armes House! Ready for the upcoming slow down!!

June 9, 2010 Flood

Well, we can finally say that we have experienced a flood here! And that we are fine not having to do it again! Wednesday was awful! Kris thought he was going to have a nice day off! I kissed him good-bye and told him to sleep for a while! He asked if it was still raining, and I said yes (it had been off and on all night long with VERY loud thundering!). He told me to go ahead and take the Hummer. Thank God I did!

When I left our house around 7:20, I could tell it didn't look good! I drove past the schools and the roads were already filling up. For those of you who have been to our house have seen the big ditch/drain they have put it off of Walnut. When I drove by it lacked about 4 feet from being completely full. As I approached the stoplight at the interstate, a grocery basket floated by in front of me! It was a down pour as I drove onto the interstate. I have never seen rain like that before. It was thundering and lightening nonstop! I swear lightening hit right behind me because I have never seen that bright of lights in my mirrors! I was driving about 40 mph on the interstate and could barely see. Everyone had their flashers on. It was crazy!

Kris called me a little before 8 to see if I had made it to work. I was still driving. It took me 40 minutes to get to work when it normally takes no more than 19! Kris was talking to me when he was at the stoplight closest to our house. The water was already at the bottom of his door! The ditch/drain I spoke about earlier, was already over filled! As he got to work, he entered a world he never could have imagined. They had a lot of damage. One of his stands at 8:30 had water in it up to his thighs. They salvaged a lot of items. When they were done removing things from that stand, the water was up to his chest! By the end of the day, when the water resided, the line on the wall was over 6 feet!! Kris told me all that they did that day to save as much as they could. Needless to say, I am glad that I didn't see him! I would have been a freaking out wife! Kris thought it was great to see everyone come together to start working on getting the park back to its normal shape. It was nice to see that everyone loves their job that much and put in so much work to save it!

As of today, the park is almost completely open! They have one section they are still working on, but that is really quick! I know a lot of people put in many hours over the last 3 days just to get it up and going! I drove by today and it looks great! Lots of people!!

However, the rivers are still dark brown! They are not as pretty when they look like that! I like them better when I can see the bottom! But, with a little more time, they will be clear, and New Braunfels will be back to normal again! They say, this was the second to worst flood they have ever seen! The news that night reported 11.82 inches of rain, which was in about 2 hours. I wish I had pictures to show, but I didn't take any. On the news they showed an RV floating down the river. Several vehicles from a local tubing company were washed away. And lot of tubes!

Luckily for us, we had not damage to our house or our lot. Kris and I drove out to our lot when he got home that night. You could tell there was a lot of rain in the bluff, but not damage! Good to know before we build!

Hope all is well with yall! Come and see us!
